Tehani Egodawela was the first in action from Team Sri Lanka. This was in the Women’s 10 M Air Rifle event. The oldest member of Team Sri Lanka & the most experienced three time Olympian ( World Rank 114 ) had a tough opponent who was 10 years younger, taller & ranked 10th in the world. The Chinese Taipei opponent Tzu – Wei Wang won the first set 21 – 12 after he enjoyed a 11 – 02 lead in the early part. From 03 – 16 down, Niluka fought hard to get to 10 – 20 but the outcome was never in doubt. As he did in the previous set, Niluka fought hard from 06 – 18 to 12 – 18, but the attacking Tzu – Wei closed it at 21 – 15 to win the match 02 sets to 0.
