The Women’s 100 M Hurdles Final concluded after a commencement that was more than unexpected. Initially, there was a false start. Television footage indicated that Wu of China in Lane 04 had a false start. Jyothi of India in Lane 05 also jumped the gun as indicated in television footage. The judges showed the Red Card to Wu on the track itself. Jyothi was seen arguing with the officials. After a considerable length of time, both athletes were allowed to race again. The race was restarted. Lin of China from Lane 06 won it. Wu of China in Lane 04 was 02nd. Jyothi of India in Lane 05 came in 03rd. The 03 athletes were photographed by the Media, probably as the medalists. When the official results were released after a lengthy delay, Wu of China was disqualified. Jyothi of India in Lane 04 was placed 02nd. Yumi of Japan in Lane 08 was 03rd. If the Judges on the spot acted decisively & instantly in the first instance, the high drama would have been not possible.
