FIDE Online Queen’s Chess Festival 2021 – Asian Continental Event Virtual on Tornelo Platform – concluded after 03 days

14 year old Women’s Candidate Master Sanudula Dahamdi was placed 02nd in Category C after obtaining 8.5 points. 09 year old Oshini Gunawardene was placed 02nd in Category D after accumilating 09 points with two others. Final placings were determined according to the tie breaker.

A total of 11 Girls participated from Sri Lanka.

The Global Women’s Chess Challenge as the Online Queen’s Chess Festival is an Open event organised by the FIDE Women’s Commission for Women’s Chess, in co – operation with the FIDE Events Commission for the purpose of connecting women chess players in the world on the Tornelo Platform. It is a Blitz event affording 03 minutes per game with an additional 02 seconds allowed for each move. The Pairings were also done by Tornelo in this 11 Round event which had 04 Categories.

Category A – Rating above 2100
Category B – Rating between 1800 – 2199
Category C – Rating between 1500 – 1799
Category D – Rating under 1500

The preliminary stages were conducted as Continental events in collaboration with in Asian Chess Federation, African Chess Confederation, Confederation of Chess for Americas & European Chess Union. The top 03 players from each Category in each Continental event will be in competition during the World event scheduled to be held on the 26th of June.
