Nestomalt Half Marathon Heralds Sri Lanka Athletic Centenary Celebrations

The Sri Lanka Athletic is celebrating their Centenary year. The 02nd most achieved sport in the country on the global stage with medals won at Olympic, World Championship, Commonwealth, Asian, Asian Championship & South Asian level. The Armed Forces dominate the local athletic sphere with the Sri Lanka Army providing employment & infrastructure to sustain the young athletes coming out of school level. They also produce the vast majority of Record holders in Track & Field.

The Ministry of Youth & Sports, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Department of Sports Development, Sri Lanka Police, Sri Lanka Athletic & Nestle Nestomalt joined in to conduct the 21 Kms Half Marathon & the 05 Kms Health Run to kick off the Centenary Year celebrations of the Sri Lanka Athletic Association with over 1200 participants being flagged off by Hon. Namal Rajapaksa – Minister of Youth & Sports.

India, Bangladesh, Maldives athletes also participated.
