This is the first time that France has hosted a Summer Paralympic Games. The Closing Ceremony was attended by Para Athletes from 169 National Paralympic Committees. 06 medal winning athletes from the host nation were selected to bring the flame for the occassion. Ugo Didier ( Male ) – Swimming : First Gold Medalist for France, Frederic Villeroux ( Male ) – Blind Football : Last Gold Medalist for France, Charles Noakes ( Male ) – Badminton : Gold Medalist, Gloria Agblemagnon ( Female ) – Athletics : Silver Medalist, Aurelie Aubert ( Female ) – Boccia : Flag bearer of France for the Closing Ceremony & Mathieu Bosredon ( Male ) – Cycling : 03 Gold Medals – the most decorated French Para Athlete at the Games.

06 Para Athletes were able to gain election to serve in the International Paralympic Committee. Altogether 26 Para Athletes were nominated to be eligible to qualify to contest the election. The competing Para Athletes were eligible to vote during the Games. Those elected were : Lenine Cunha : Portugal – Athletics – 353 votes – first Para Athlete with intellectual impairment
Vladyslava Kravchenko : Malta – Swimming – 340 votes – re elected
Martina Caironi : Italy – Athletics – 309 votes – re elected
Yoomin Won : South Korea – Wheelchair Basketball – 296 votes
Yujiao Tan : China – Powerlifting – 281 votes
Denise Schindler : Germany – Cycling : 244 votes

France accounted for 75 medals including 19 Gold, 28 Silver & 28 Bronze medals, occupyng the 08th position in the medal tally. 15,000 volunteers assisted the 4463 Para Athletes who were qualified to compete.
