Western beat North Western (Wayamba) to Win Championship
Department of Sports Development / Netball Federation of Sri Lanka / Dialog Netball Rising Stars 2021 Championship – Ministry of Sports Ground, Independence Square, Colombo – concluded after 02 days
09 Provincial teams of Under 23 category participated in a League Format before the Semi Finals were conducted. The Consolation Final & the Championship Final were played over 40 minutes in 04 Quartersaccording to International Rules.
The Championship was conducted by the able Sports Officers of the Department of Sports Development, with the Netball Federation having secured the sponsorship of Dialog Axiata – the premier provider of communication to the nation & major sponsors of major sports in the country. The current National Pool players were not permitted to play in the tournament, as the main aim was providing an opportunity to identify promising young talent for inclusion in the National Pool. The first ever Dialog Netball Rising Stars 2021 was held as part of celebrations to mark the International Women’s Day in the country.
The National Pool players were involved in an Exhibition Fast Five game before the Championship Final. The two teams were the Golden Eagles & Blue Lightning.
