    DIALOG Champions League Kicks Off

    The Football Federation of Sri Lanka together with Dialog Axiata gave Football in Sri Lanka a big boost when the first day of matches were played in Colombo.

    The first game of the 10th Dialog Champions League 2015 was played at Kompannaveediya. A fair crowd witnessed Saunders hold Upcountry Lionsto a 0 – 0 draw at the City League Ground..Saunders is not fielding any foreign players. The second match was an easy passage for Super Sun,Beruwala who beat Matara City by the comfortable margin of 6 – 2 at the renovated Old Race Course.The first goal recorded in this years championship was an own goal.by M.G.Dinesh 0f Matara City in their opening encounter with Super Sun,Beruwala.

    The launch match was the 03rd game at Reid Avenue.under lights.It was almost a decade since a football match was last played at this venue.Fariq Cader,Vice President – Digital Services,Dialog Axiata and Anura De Silva, President – Football Federation of Sri Lanka participated as Chief Guests. Colombo FC beat Blue Star,Kalutara 2 – 0 with Bodric Dimithri of Camaroon scoring both goals in the second half. A good crowd enjoyed a fast paced game and although many scoring oppotunities were missed by both teams the fans were well served.

    Dialog TV had a live telecast while ThePapare.com kept up a live streaming.Dialog Mobile had a facility to update users as the match was in progress.

    The conduct of the match was well organised and the Director General of Sports,K.D.S.Ruwanchandra may have been pleased to see the much appreciated action next to the Ministry of Sports and the Football Federation of Sri Lanka.
